16. Advantage of American Colonial Era•••••Advantage of Filipino Revolutionary Government Era•••••

Phil History: Advantages and Disadvantages of American Colonization

The 2 advantages that I choose from the American colonizer is that they provide resources coming from them like for example, dealing with lands for farming of crops and plants. In addition, they are rich also in the valuable resources such gold, oil and coal. Some of them benefited the Philippines. From this first advantages, we can see the benefits that Philippines had in times of American colony. Capabilities of Americans look forward on their goals in terms of colonization but not to harm but to share an impact that will benefit its colonized country or territory a sense of wealthiness and craftiness. I guests they want every country they’ve been colonized to learn grow in their cultures and tradition they had. Through this, they will been recognize as one of the wealthiest colonizer.

Secondly, the advantage of American colonization is that the power of influence through education, cultures and religions. Filipino from the start until now catch up the vision of American colonizer which is to share its some cultures and religions. We can see that the influence of American colonizing rise up and have been recognize until now by Filipinos but the sense of being nationalism sometimes affected because of the power of influence.

In terms of disadvantages, the interruption of colony’s way of life. The native inhabitant’s way of life has been disrupted. Why disrupted? Is this because there is no sense of freedom in part of native like filipinos, if they will not recognize the American’s culture and tradition it may happen that Filipinos will be slaves until now if they not recognize the colonizer’s inhabitants. The disruption of Filipino’s inhabitant’s lead to stand independently. As you can see now, Pres. Duterte said that Philippines will repudiate the support coming from American. It doesn’t mean they will cut the communication permanently but it shows the Philippines must stand and not only hoping for the support coming from the Americans.

Second disadvantage is the unfair balance of power between the colony and colonizer. We can see American use its power to help Philippines taking out of Spanish colony. After all, while time goes by, American control the minds of Filipinos to convert them into colonizers influence of traditions and religion. Filipino’s native inhabitants disrupted because of this unfair power. They use Philippines as an weapon to earn lots of wealthiness. The sense of ignorance emerge in the minds of Filipino because through power shared by American, filipinos had been ignorant that they are robbed by Americans some of Filipinos treasures. However, now Filipinos recognize the American unfairness so that it makes the president of the Philippines to take action of this through stopping receiving support from the Americans and allows other country to be partner. It doesn’t mean to cut the relationship of Philippines and America but to show to stop being always hoping to Americans patronage.

In terms all of this, advantages and disadvantages emerge. Colonization always take up of being responsible to its colony. However, the sense of being self-centered will exist and being abusive to its victims power. Lesson learn is that do not be unfair and take always balance and being fair to others.

The Revolutionary Government of the Philippines (Spanish: Gobierno Revolucionario de Filipinas) was a revolutionary government established in the Spanish East Indies on June 23, 1898, during the Spanish–American War, by Emilio Aguinaldo, its initial and only president.[1] The government succeeded a dictatorial government which had been established by Aguinaldo on June 18,[2] and which was dissolved and replaced by this government upon its establishment.[3][4] This government endured until January 23, 1899, when the proclamation of the Malolos Constitution established an insurgent Philippine Republic government which replaced it.[5][6]

Four governmental departments were initially created, each having several bureaus: foreign relations, marine and commerce; war and public works; police, justice, instruction and hygiene; finance, agriculture, and industry.[7] A Revolutionary Congress was established with power "[t]o watch over the general interest of the Philippine people, and carrying out of the revolutionary laws; to discuss and vote upon said laws; to discuss and approve, prior to their ratification, treaties and loans; to examine and approve the accounts presented annually by the secretary of finance, as well as extraordinary and other taxes which may hereafter be imposed."[8]

On August 14, 1898, two days after the Battle of Manila of the Spanish–American War and about two months after Aguinaldo's proclamation of this revolutionary government, the United States established a military government in the Philippines, with General Merritt acting as military governor.[9]
