Answer:

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West is an American novel published in 1995, and written by Gregory Maguire with illustrations by Douglas Smith. It is a revisionist exploration of the characters and setting of the 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, its sequels, and the 1939 film adaption The Wizard of Oz. 11. The Filipimos during rizal's time were spurred by his novels to act againts oppression. Do you think Filipinos at present still draw inspiration from his work? What make you say so?

Answer:

In these times of crisis we Filipinos would do well to look back at the code of virtues Rizal abided by to help us put meaning to our own struggles for survival. Rizal embodied and realized the best of what the Filipino can be. His triumphs and struggles even against the certainty of failure inspired the Katipunaneros to launch the Revolution despite great odds, and realize Asia’s first independent Republic. And today, it is still Rizal that leads this generation to continue and perchance finish what he began: the formation of a nation where every Filipino is truly free.

Answer:

It can happen that a Filipino reader does not have the patience to read his novels, but it could well happen that this same reader might enjoy reading his private letters or short articles. Although Filipinos cannot access the stylish beauty of his Spanish, they could get engaged with his rich arguments, with superb critical thinking skills, his uncommon intellectual brightness. Admiring Rizal without understanding him is a kind of empty nationalism and blind devotion. I do not find a better way to pay him a tribute than to read his work and getting to understand his formidable prose and his compelling ideas. Before being a hero, he was already a gifted writer, and Rizal, like another writer, wanted to be read.

21. how did dona perfecta inspired rizal to write his two novels

Answer:

Most likely, he did.

This speculation has been around for a while, but I hadn’t looked into it until I read Jorge Mojarro’s article in the Manila Times last year.

Benito Pérez Galdós, a renowned Spanish writer, was Rizal’s contemporary. The two are not known to have met. What we can safely deduce is that Rizal was familiar with the Spanish writer’s work.

Rizal was in Spain when Galdós was at the peak of his popularity. Both writers had progressive political and anti-clerical views.

The book that is said to have inspired Rizal’s main characters in Noli Me Tangere is Galdós’ Doña Perfecta.

Answer:

Do you think novels in the Philippines are important as they used to be when the NOLI was published in 1887?

-No

Are people still inspired by novels?

-Yes, there are. But as what i have observed nowadays, people tend to read novels from wattpad, where they can have life quotes, "hugot" lines, and love lessons where i think they served as their inspirations, more often their status (facebook, twitter, intagram, blog, etc.). People love to read romance stores rather than our history/past stories before.

30. What are the inspirations/reasons of Rizal in writing his novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo?

Answer:

Dr. Jose Rizal wrote “Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not)” and “El Filibusterismo (The Filibuster)” for an overriding reason: to let the world know about how his motherland endured the behavior of Spanish friars, officials and their supporters in the Philippines, especially in the 19th Century. The two novels centered on the characters of Crisostomo Ibarra and Simoun, both of which are alluded to the national hero, while the other characters in the story represent other symbolisms of the kind of society the Philippines had at a time.
