2. What possible consequences of meritocracy in a social system?

Effect of Meritocracy in the Social System

The possible consequence of meritocracy is division and inequality among members in the society.

Meritocracy is a kind or type of political system in which higher positions or political and economic power is given or vested not on the basis of social class like of Aristocracy (https://brainly.ph/question/1433491), but instead on the basis of merit, which includes talent, skills, effort, and achievement (brainly.ph/question/953237).

This type of political system directly and significantly creates division among people, the highly skilled ones and the not so skilled ones. And knowing the society we have right now, a lot of members in the society who belong to lower social system, and these members unarguably, belong to the not so skilled ones, hence, inequality now exists. And looking at this scenario, it is definitely a no good.

Answer:

False

Explanation:

Meritocracy (merit, from Latin mereō, and -cracy, from Ancient Greek κράτος kratos 'strength, power') is a political system in which economic goods and/or political power are vested in individual people on the basis of talent, effort, and achievement, rather than wealth or social class.[1] Advancement in such a system is based on performance, as measured through examination or demonstrated achievement. Although the concept of meritocracy has existed for centuries, the term itself was coined in 1958 by the sociologist Michael Dunlop Young in his satirical essay The Rise of the Meritocracy.[2]

MERITOCRACY NI GENGHIS KHAN

Meritocracy

15. What is the importance of meritocracy in mobilizing social status and the creation of middle class for a gradual social change??

Answer:

Sociologists use the term social stratification to describe the system of social standing. Social stratification refers to a society’s categorization of its people into rankings of socioeconomic tiers based on factors like wealth, income, race, education, and power.

In the United States, people like to believe everyone has an equal chance at success. To a certain extent, Aaron illustrates the belief that hard work and talent—not prejudicial treatment or societal values—determine social rank. This emphasis on self-effort perpetuates the belief that people control their own social standing.

Factors that define stratification vary in different societies. In most societies, stratification is an economic system, based on wealth, the net value of money and assets a person has, and income, a person’s wages or investment dividends. While people are regularly categorized based on how rich or poor they are, other important factors influence social standing. For example, in some cultures, wisdom and charisma are valued, and people who have them are revered more than those who don’t. In some cultures, the elderly are esteemed; in others, the elderly are disparaged or overlooked. Societies’ cultural beliefs often reinforce the inequalities of stratification.
